Pictures Report - Citizen meeting in Arlon, Belgium

65 participants, 16 nationalities, one shared goal: making local democracy more accessible.

Saturday 18th April in Arlon, our citizen meeting within the “Let’s demystify local politics!” project brought together a diverse group of residents from Luxembourg and Belgium to exchange, learn, and connect across borders.

The programme included a visit to the Province of Luxembourg and a meeting with its President Jean-Marie Meyer, a convivial lunch hosted by CIEP, and discussions at Arlon City Hall with two Vice Mayors on how foreign residents can actively participate in local political life.

These rich exchanges highlighted the importance of dialogue, inclusion, and active citizenship — values at the heart of the European Union / Interreg Grande Région - Großregion, which cofunds this beautiful and important project.

We are grateful to all participants and our partners for making this day a success and look forward to continuing the conversation at our next citizen meeting in Luxembourg.

Democracy grows stronger when we build it together.
