Pictures Report - Citizen meeting in Luxembourg

77 participants, 17 nationalities, one shared goal: making local democracy more accessible.

Saturday 20th June in Luxembourg-city, our 2nd transnational citizen meeting within the “Let’s demystify local politics!” project brought together a diverse group of residents from Luxembourg and Belgium to exchange, learn, and connect across borders.

The programme included a visit to the Luxembourg Parliament, the heart of our democracy, in the great company of MP Marc Lies, a guided tour of the City of Luxembourg lead by local councillor and historian Robert Philippart, and a convivial lunch hosted by Politics for all in the city-center of the capital, with the participation of local councillor Antonia Afonso.

These rich exchanges highlighted the importance of dialogue, inclusion, and active citizenship, values at the heart of the European Union / Interreg Grande Région - Großregion, which cofunds this beautiful and important project. You will notice the pink microphone, symbol of our project, because our initiative's goal is to give a voice to residents who often feel invisible in local politics; and it's pink to remind us that political participation must be inclusive, accessible, and make room for diversity, women, young people, and people from immigrant backgrounds: every voice counts, on both sides of the border.

We are very grateful to all participants and our partners from CIEP in Arlon, and to the members of Union des indépendants asbl who also joined our citizen meeting, for making this day a success.

Democracy grows stronger when we build it together.
